In a nutshell

The client runs a large digital financial ecosystem with contracts across vendors, partners and enterprise customers, mostly held in SAP Ariba. Legal and commercial teams were reviewing each one by hand. We built AI systems that capture contracts straight from the procurement platform, extract the text with OCR, evaluate every clause with retrieval-augmented generation, and deliver structured risk reports, plus search across every agreement.

Client data protectedThe client is anonymised, and every contract, party and clause in the demos is fictional. The workflow is real; the data is not.
01 · The problem

Hundreds of contracts a quarter, read one by one

Each agreement took 30 to 60 minutes of careful legal reading, and the pile kept growing. Set the quarter's volume and see where the hours went.

Manual review

legal hours back every quarter

Illustrative: 45 minutes per contract (the middle of the measured 30–60), reduced by the measured 80%.

What was going wrong
  • Slow by design: 30–60 minutes of reading for every single contract.
  • Stuck in the system: agreements had to be downloaded from SAP Ariba before anyone could review them.
  • Easy to miss things: risky wording and missing protections slipped through large review batches.
  • No memory across contracts: finding a clause in past agreements meant opening them one by one.
02 · Ingestion

Straight from SAP Ariba. Even the scans.

Contracts created between companies are captured from the procurement platform automatically, with no separate upload step. Uploaded PDFs and scanned copies go through the same pipeline. Pick a source.

03 · Clause-level risk analysis

A legal second read, in minutes

For every clause, the system retrieves the relevant clause patterns and context, then a language model judges the wording and recommends what to do. It also notices what is not there. Run the analysis, then open any clause.

05 · Architecture

Built into the systems contracts already live in

The pipeline connects to SAP Ariba and Microsoft Graph, stores documents in S3, and runs OCR, retrieval and the language model on AWS, with a React app on top. Tap a component, or trace a contract.

06 · What made it hard

Messy documents, legal-grade answers

Contracts arrive scanned, structured differently and worded every possible way, and the output has to hold up in front of lawyers. Flip each card from the challenge to how we solved it.

07 · The result

Contract review that scales with the business

Following production deployment, legal and commercial teams spot risky clauses and missing protections across large volumes of agreements, and align on contracts faster.

100+contractual provisions analysed in every document
Minutesto a full risk report, instead of hours
The resultA manual, document-heavy review became a scalable AI-assisted process, so legal and commercial professionals spend their time on decisions rather than on reading.
